I am here
before the end of time.

I will
be here after.

My black wings,
my shroud and cloak.

I stand
on the edge of time.

I am a placeholder
for the dark,
the uninspected,
which when known
gives you the most freedom.

I hunker down in with you,
within you.

Call me
from your deepest caverns.
I’ll be there.

Call me
when you can’t take it
another minute.

Call me,
when you feel you’re going to
break, shatter, disintegrate
and blow away . . .

I am on the winds with you . . .

My intention to paint a more traditional, beautiful Virgin of Guadalupe was circumvented by an inner vision of a one-eyed Mary, strange, I know, and the glimmering, black wing of the crow.  I must admit to some reluctance, originally, to paint her this way.  But, receiving her message brings a growing confidence to follow my inner visions and promptings and a curiosity to see what can be born.
